Solution Focused Therapy
This eLearning course is an introduction to Solution Focused Therapy techniques in a professional, clinical or work setting. This course has been designed to provide an introduction to the origins, framework and key strategies of Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).
SFT is a targeted, goal-focused, evidence-based therapeutic approach used to help people change their current circumstances or to achieve something they desire.
What's included?
In this interactive and engaging eLearning, you’ll be introduced to key Solution Focused techniques & principles, including problem free talk, miracle questions, exceptions, and task setting. You will also work through a series of activities and scenarios to help you visualise how to use these skills.
How long is it?
There are four modules. Each module takes anything from 30-60 minutes to complete, depending on how much time you take to reflect and practise what you have learnt.
Certificate
By completing/passing this course, you will attain a Relate CPD certificate.
Objectives
1. An introduction to Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
You will start by learning about the origins of Solution Focused Therapy and how it is used to support others. You’ll be introduced to some of the theories that support an understanding of SFT.
By the end of the topic you will have;
- Explored the main features and origins of SFT
- Explored the relevance of language and the influence of social constructionism to SFT
- Explored the assumptions and identified key principles of SFT
2. An introduction to SFT Techniques
We’ll introduce you to the key strategies and guide you through best practice for having Solution Focused conversations.
By the end of the topic you will have;
- Explored the key SFT techniques
- Recognised the mind-set and approach required to effect change in others
3. The application of SF Techniques
In this topic you will revisit the techniques in more detail and get the opportunity to see how they are applied.
By the end of the topic you will have;
- Explored the techniques and questions to use in order to effect change in others, including;
- Problem free talk
- Miracle question
- Exceptions
- Compliments
- Scaling questions
- Task setting
4. Bringing it together
In this topic you will get the chance to test your learning and think about how you might use the techniques in your conversations
By the end of the topic you will have;
- Identified the key of principles of solution focused approach (from a list)
- Detailed how to apply a SF framework to your work
Certificate
By completing/passing this course, you will attain the certificate Relate CPD Certificate 2022
